When can you have soda after a tooth extraction?

When Can I Stop Worrying About Dry Socket? Until the full recovery of your extraction site, a dry socket can form if you fail to follow the care tips. Usually, a week (7-8 days) after wisdom tooth extraction, you can stop worrying about a dry socket as gums take this much time to close fully.
Within the first 24 hours after tooth removal surgery, you should avoid consuming anything that involves chewing. Try to limit yourself to liquids exclusively. If they don't fill you up and you want to consume solid food, go for soft meals that don't need much chewing, like pudding or oatmeal.
DO NOT suck through a straw for the first 2 weeks after tooth surgery, as this will increase your risk of DRY socket.
The bubbles in carbonated drinks can also cause dry socket by loosening blood clots, so it's best to avoid sodas. Don't eat crunchy foods like nuts, chips, and popcorn because they are hard to chew and can easily get stuck in your extraction sites.
After your procedure, focus on drinking lots of water to facilitate healing and stay hydrated. Beverages like Gatorade, Powerade, and Pedialyte can also be great options to help you stay hydrated and heal up quickly.
When the blood clot from the extraction site falls out prematurely (within the first 4 days after surgery), dry socket causes extreme pain that may radiate to the jaw, face, and ear. It also causes bad breath. The highest risk for this condition is between days 2-3 after tooth extraction.

- Don't smoke for at least 72 hours after the procedure.
- Don't touch the wound other than to change the gauze.
- Don't eat peanuts, popcorn, pasta, or any other foods that could get stuck in the extraction site.
- Eat soft foods and clear soups.
Avoid Straws, Soda, Alcohol, and Hot Beverages
After you have your wisdom teeth removed it's important to avoid drinking soda and other carbonated drinks. (You shouldn't drink these anyway to keep you teeth healthy.) The carbonation in the drinks can cause issues with the blood clot.
Aside from applying ice packs on your face and cheeks after the surgery, you should also drink ice cold water. Ice does not just reduce swelling, but the coldness is also a great pain reliever, numbing the area of your mouth that is affected.
How long to avoid carbonated beverages after surgery?
Some drinks may irritate your healing stomach and should be avoided after bariatric surgery, including: Caffeine for at least 3 months after surgery. Carbonated beverages for at least 3 months after surgery. Alcoholic drinks for at least 6 months after surgery.
No matter what procedure you have undergone, carbonation can cause all sorts of problems. First, it can irritate the stomach pouch, causing discomfort. It can also stretch the stomach pouch which can lead to major complications. Opt for non-carbonated beverages after surgery.
The American Dental Association recommends you keep gauze over your extraction site for 30 to 45 minutes after surgery. This encourages a blood clot to form and can help prevent dry socket.
Keeping the head to the side while sleeping could cause the protective materials to shift a small bit, making it harder for the teeth to stay healthy. You'll need to sleep on your back for at least a week after the initial procedure.
